iPad Math Class

We spent time in class working with division on iPads, which allowed the students to teach lessons using a variety of strategies. We were using an application (that is available on the web as well) called Educreations. This application (and site) is great (and free!) to use as a virtual whiteboard with a twist! It records what you write and say to create short videos that can be saved and watched again. It is a great resource for students to practice new art skills, work with spelling words, or review vocabulary by creating visual associations (science, history, or geography). Here is a short video of our project.

Math Fact Review

To stay fresh on your division facts, it is important to review them regularly. Feel free to use the Math Connects website for extra review. My math students enjoy using "Scrambled Egg City" to practice their division facts. There are division fact practices from Chapter 6, lesson 4 through Chapter 7, lesson 5. There are also additional practice problems  in the "fact dash" and "personal tutor" sections. Happy reviewing!

The Egypt Game

We are continuing through The Egypt Game in reading class. The main characters have been working with their own secret hieroglyphic writing, so we spent time in class today creating one of our own. We then wrote messages as if we were characters in the story.
Terrific Job!

Wordle Practice

This week we spent time exploring Wordle together. The students were allowed to create Wordles on any topic this week. Next week, we will be completing internet research to prepare us for our MLK compositions. At the end of the week, we will be creating Wordles about Martin Luther King, Jr. Check back next week to view those creations!

Glogster Creation

Our reading group spent two days creating "Glogs" on Glogster Edu with partners this week. The partners decided which characters or setting they wanted to depict, and selected appropriate backgrounds, images, graphics, and text boxes. We will be sharing the "Glogs" on Monday in class, so check back next week to view their hard work. Terrific job, everyone!
