Some of our ninth age reading groups are working on a Laura Ingalls Wilder story, "By the Shores of Silver Lake". We have been discussing how Laura's older sister, Mary, is able to get onto a train and what her train-ride experience would be like after developing blindness from scarlet fever. We are impressed with all that Mary accomplishes; especially after finding that using a partner to guide us (with closed eyes)to our seats was very difficult!
